NEW YORK, February 22, 2005 – 4Kids Entertainment,
Inc. (NYSE: KDE), licensing agent for major properties
such as Pokémon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
and Yu-Gi-Oh!, today announced it has signed an agreement
with cartoon character creation studio Fineline Properties
(NASD: FNLH.PK), a division of Fineline Holdings,
to serve as the exclusive merchandise licensing agent
for the Moodies™ cartoon character group. 4Kids
also is being retained to represent the film and
television rights for the Moodies character group.
The Moodies’ property is based on the concept
of dolls containing heat sensors that enable a child’s
mood to be reflected in the color of the doll as
a result of the amount of body heat produced. If
you are cold, the doll will turn blue and if you
are hot, the doll will turn red. The toy rights are
available for licensing.
Fineline Properties, represented by GeDo Designs,
Inc., developed the Moodies as a positive character
group for kids age 6 and under. The Moodies are simple,
accessible metaphors for the emotions all people
experience in their lives, at all ages, and can teach
positive ways to work out these emotions with others.
“We are excited to serve as the exclusive
licensing agent for the Moodies,” said Alfred
R. Kahn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
4Kids Entertainment. “These delightful, colorful
figures enable children to learn to interact with
others in a positive way. We look forward to working
with Fineline Properties and building the Moodies
brand.”
"The experience and expertise 4Kids brings
to the Moodies licensing program is unparalleled
in the industry, and we are very excited to be working
together with 4Kids and have the Moodies brand alongside
other phenomenally successful 4Kids properties," says
Robert Petry, President of Fineline.
